K7 Athlon Benchmark results!! |
2nd
Sep 1999, 0533hrs
|
Dying
to know just how fast is the K7 Athlon? I guess most of
you have read reports on how fast this processor can go.
Anyway, I've been working on this baby for the past few
hours pumping out as many benchmarks as possible. Just
to wet your appetite for tonight, here are some preliminary
benchmark results to keep you busy. Do compare it with
your current Pentium-II/!!! system to see just how much
more you can get with the Athlon. The tests were ran using
Mitsubishi PC100 SDRAM (128MB), Microstar TNT2-64 M8808
(32MB) AGP and IBM Deskstar 22GP DJNA-371350 (13.5GB).

Well, that's all for tonight folks. Tomorrow I shall
be running more benchmarks and hopefully, I can give
you the full review of the K7-500 with the MS-6167 motherboard
in a few days time. I am indeed very impressed by its
performance and stability. The tests went very smoothly,
and so far, not even a hint of the dreaded blue screen
or the famous GPF errors. I just hope AMD can bring
this gem into full volume production soon, and give
Intel a nice kick on the butt. For once, AMD now knows
how it feels to be the King of the Hill. And let's hope
AMD will continue to stay there. But for now, I have
to catch some sleep.

We
just got our hands on the new PlexWriter 8/2/20 (internal
version). This baby comes with a generous 4MB buffer (needed
for the 8x write capability) and it uses the SCSI interface.
This made in Japan drive does seem to pack a lot of punch.
Well, stay tuned as we test out this baby.

| Portable
Flat Panel Speaker |
28th
Aug 1999, 0200hrs
|
Ever
wanted to own a pair of real cool looking, totally flat
speakers? Well, we guz just got our hands on the
all-new Portable Flat Panel Speaker by Billionsound.
The NXT Technology and the flat speakers is the trademark
of New Transducers Limited. The dimensions of the speaker
made it very potable. It is especially convenient for
those people who use Laptops if they find that the speakers
of their laptop are not loud enough. Moreover, the whole
plane takes only a small driver to create wave vibration
that generates noise-free, clear and 360 degrees surrounding
quality sound. It is also appropriate to use it for
your home desktop. Not only can it be placed on your
desktop table, it can also be hung on the wall if there
is not enough space for the ultra thin speakers. These
speakers can also be connected to a CD-Player, a Walkman
or even to a MP3 Player. This is one more reason that
you should go for these speakers if you were looking
for an ultra thin, space saving and portable one.
The
speakers will be available in Funan & Sim Lim Square
(esp. in the notebook shop -4th floor) and suggested
retail price is $59.00.
